Apart from rail and road connectivity, Solapur has The Existing Airport at Hotgi (Majrewadi). Presently this airport is being maintained and operated by Airports Authority of India.
It has total land are of143 Ha with runway of 2100 m. X 45 m, Terminal Building of about 328 Sq.m. However, due to chimney of sugar factory on south east side (@68 Mt. height) and thick habitation on North West side, existing airport can't be further expanded for operation of the larger aircrafts required for scheduled flight operations.
Citing these difficulties, it was decided to develop full fledge Greenfield Airport at site identified in villages Boramani and Tandulwadi.
Geographic Location
The proposed Greenfield airport site is located at Boramani village, about 20 km from Solapur city. Its co-ordinates are 17.45°N and 76.03°E with an average elevation of 509.75 m above AMSL.
It is accessible by NH-9 (Solapur – Hyderabad). The western boundary of airport site is about 2 km from NH-9 while eastern boundary abuts NH-9
