As per the directives of the Board in its 62nd meeting held on 28-12-2017, AAI has carried out pre-feasibility study and submitted the report on 27-02-2018 of the site near Mauja-Murti and Vihirgaon Tal. Rajura and found the site feasible subject to Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) survey. MADC completed the OLS survey and the report has been submitted to Airports Authority of India (AAI) on 29-06-2018 for confirmation of site.
Administrative and financial approval for the development of Greenfield airport has been accorded vide GR dtd.26-04-2018. GoM approved an amount of Rs. 41 Cr towards acquisition of land and Rs. 5 Cr for allied works. The airport will be spread over on an area of 840 acre.The airport land includes Government land of 280.30 acre, forest land of 185.92 acre and private land of 373.9 acre.The land will be acquired through private negotiations. To use forest land, clearance from Forest Dept. is must.
MADC appointed M/s ICT as a design consultant for preparation of DPR including approvals from various statutory authorities. The consultant has carried out topographic, geotechnical and hydrological survey of site. Consultant has also submitted pre-feasibility report covering master plan for airport, traffic assessment, financial analysis and broad cost estimates etc.MADC has submitted application for MOEF clearance and preparation for applications for site clearance, MOD, MHA clearance are in process.
MADC has acquired 77 Ha of private land out of 116.48 Ha by distributing an amount of Rs. 17.73 Cr. Acquisition process for remaining private land is ongoing. Also, Govt. land to the tune of 99.71 Ha is transferred to MADC.
A presentation to Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) regarding finalisation of Terms of Reference (ToR) for getting Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Environmental and Forest (MoEF) took place at ParyavaranBhavan, New Delhi on 6.02.2019. The ToR is finalised by EAC and minutes of this meeting are received on 15.02.2019.
As per directives issued in the ToR, Wild life Institute of India (WII), Dehradun has been contacted for conducting human-animal conflict study due to proposed Greenfield airport. Their report is received in March 2020. WII approved the proposed airport site, only in case no other site is suitable for airport. The approval is subject to certain other conditions. Also, in their report WII mentioned that the wildlife monitoring during construction phase as well as five years upon operationalisation of airport is essential and estimated budget for same is Rs. 4.75 crore.
Consultant appointed for deforestation of 75.24 Ha of forest land coming in proposed airport. The consultant has submitted proposal for deforestation and also identified the land for compensatory afforestation. However, in view of receipt of report from WII, Forest Department has raised certain queries on the project as well as compensatory land to be returned to forest dept. which are being replied by Forest Consultant.
